platial

It's an all right website with some cool ideas that don't always translate.

This is true for any member-based application site. If you don't get the members to generate comments and identify in this case locations for other members, the whole site is up a creek.

It doesn't help that it seems like googlemaps is doing the same thing and the websites' generally unfriendly motions.

Platials' premise is that friends would have an easier time telling you about places to go and events that are happening if they had a map handy. Over the course of 3 years I have seen the site redesigned over and over, so I know that these people are working. Often times, the changes are so great I cannot tell if these changes are better or worse.

The fact that people tell other people what is good is different from google maps. Platial seems closer to reality in this way, as word of mouth and recommendations float to the top.

It's a service that I really could use personally, and I know that with iphone technology platial will resurface.
